Is there a possibility of I am Legend's virus of creatures becoming a reality next year or in 2012?

My friend, Kayla and I were watching it and she told me that there is a possibility that we could turn into the hideous creatures who fear the light. She said next year or in 2012. I am a little scared and am wondering if there is any way to stop it or if there is a possibilty. On a scale of one to ten?

2012 is Mayan - Legend is Hollywood.  You can't just mix them to suit yourself.

If you want to freak out about 2012... it is calculated (which may be off) to end on "quaking".  So I'd be inclined to fear volcanic activity and massive earthquakes (and probably the subsequent after effects of tsunamis).

Between Ebola, HIV and H5N1 - let alone what the CDC's got brewing up in their cauldrons down in Atlanta at the moment... who knows when, if, or which virus may be the one to wipe out humankind.

I dont believe it would happen that fast but there is a theory that the human race is dividing into two different races, one intelligent, beautiful race and a race of troll like people.  Of course this is based on the fact that beautiful people breed with the beautiful people leaving the uglies for the uglies.  Crude phrasing but that is the basic idea.

As for a virus like in the movie, you never know what viruses are still out there in the rainforests that havent been found.  Kinda doubt it though.

theoreticaly i virus could develop that could ahve similar effects but you must remeber that i am legend is based on quite an old book now with general vampires but the film has changed the idea a little so the proabability on a scale of 1-10 of that exact thing happening is about 0.48697

It could happen but not likely its all theory due to the end of the Mayan Calendar and people thinking its doomsday, It is not the end of the world it is the official end of the age of Pisces and the official beginning of the age of Aquarius. Its not the end of the world yet.

one. it wont happen. we are no were near creating a virus that attacks cancer cells. in fact, we would have no were to start. its impossible, your friend obviously isnt a bioengineer. its fiction, nothing more.
