Is there a possibility that the universe is fractal in nature?

    The universe is grainy but only down to the Planck Length (smallest length possible).  Beyond that, even if there is something, we could never probe it (and fractals you can go into forever).  Further, due to the Uncertainty Principle there is no definitive pattern at those scales.  It is random.  A fractal universe would imply a precision and predictability that is just not there.
