Is there a possible way to freeze lettuce?

I have such a large amount from my garden I hate for it to waste is there a way to freeze it successfully?

  1. Well, you could probably freeze it, but when you thaw it out, you would end up with mush.  

    Give it to neighbors, co-workers, or the local food bank.  Food banks can always use the fresh vegies.


  2. I don't think so.  You usually have to blanch veggies before you freeze them and blanched lettuce sounds gross.

    Give some to your neighbors or put it out of the curb.  I've seen lots of veggies for free on the curb.

  3. Just doesn't work.  Defrosted lettuce is mush.  Cut it and put bows on it and give your friends some lovely fresh salad.

  4. No there is noway it will always turn soggy.  Find a local food bank and donate your extra.  They do not often get fresh vegitables.

  5. Lettuce is not good frozen because it is mostly water.  When you freeze it it will become slimy and limp.  No good, please don't.
