  1. As ALT said, about all you can do is put a big ole ugly watermark slapped across the photo, but it sure does nothing for the looks of the photo. Even then, there will be people who will snatch it if they want it and often do some crappy job of taking out the watermark. Some people just do not care. Personally, I do not use watermarks. I upload only a low res file no larger than about 800 pixels on the longest side. It can be snatched for website purposes, but at least it will never print decently... but again, some people don't care about that either.

Bottom line... if you put ANYTHING on line in any manner, it can be snatched. If you can't live with that, then you should not put any photos on the web EVER.

Using some type of right click disabling software is useless. Screen capture is easy.

  2. I agree with Alt. I always watermark my photos when I put them online too. In the middle of my photos, I put the copyright symbol, the year I created it, then my name. In Photoshop you can type it out, then turn down the opacity so it becomes transparent. Good luck!

  3. first.. learn to spell.

you should be asking this in the html programming section. there are things you can do to prevent the right click save options but it isnt really a photography question.

you can always do like the previous answer said and watermark your images.

  4. This is how I prevent it:

A big old "Copyrighted" sign slapped across the middle.  If you use Flickr, you can set it so that if someone tries to save the image, they only get a black dot, but that still does not prevent theft.  People can use the Print Screen option to copy and save the photo.  The Watermark that I use (hopefully) prevents people from wanting to save it.  It would take too much time to remove it.

  5. All of these answers are excellent. There is NO way to stop anyone from taking one of your or anyones images once posted somewhere on line. The Screen Capture works and is hard to beat and no one can stop it....

The idea of a water make is your best hope, as well as do not make the images any larger than 800x600 pixels and don't worry if they have some pixels or JPG artifacts showing.. That will make them even less desirable to want to rip off..

  6. Watermarks are fine if you don't mind showcasing your best work with a giant word scribbled across the image. Personally, I would never consider using them. I just make my pix small enough (600-800px) so that they're pretty much useless outside the web.

As for protecting photos from copying...can't be stopped. Sorry. A simple screen dump will pretty much foil any attempt to stop downloads, so save your time and money for other more worthy pursuits.
