Forget circuit city.

Look online for a cellular repeater.  wireless if you don't want to plug your phone into it.

Yes, they work, as I have one in my car, BUT while it will make a very weak signal strong, it will not get a signal where there is none.

Yes it's called an access point.  You can also just purchase another router and place them in a series.  Just turn off the router functions on the 2nd one and it becomes the access point.
