I'm not 18 yet, but would like to do peace corps, but don't want to wait another year. I would only like to do it for a year as well, so I can go to college afterwards. Is there a program like this?

  1. If you mean a program that will pay your travel expenses to a foreign country, give you medical and dental care and three months of training, then a living allowance as you work very hard to make the world a better place, no. Americorps will let you travel within the USA and make the world a better place.

Realistically, you'd be a better volunteer after college; you'll know more and be more mature. Unless you want to change the world one shovel at a time, you'd have a wider variety of job opportunities, too.

  2. Americorps

  3. Americorps (http://www.americorps.org/) has programs all over

    or

    City Year

both have programs that last one year-- good luck!

  4. You can do Americorps, which is like the peace corps with domestic assignments.  Peace corps usually only accepts college grads anyways, so it's best to get your education taken care of first.

I did a year in Americorps and it was one of the best years I've had so far!  Give it a try!
