Is there a program that helps promote clean water in 3rd world countries?

I remember hearing about people donating money to put in clean water wells/filters in African etc. does anyone know who does this?

Japan jointly announced the Clean Water for People Initiative at the World

Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg. The Initiative will

build upon U.S. and Japanese activities in water resources
