Is there a program that will help pay for my childrens pre-school for low income familys in ca?

  1. Check out your local University or Colleges. Usually the Early Childhood Ed students have to do practicum work, and they run a program there. It is SO much cheaper (in our town it is about $70 a month for preschool, the college costs $50 for a whole 5 months)


  2. Have you checked into Head Start?  It's an excellent program in most areas, and families are accepted based largely on income guidelines.  However if you think you may be over-income, apply anyway, because some over-income families are accepted for a variety of reasons.  Another program that is becoming more widespread is pre-K.  I don't know if this is available in your area, but you can find out by calling your local elementary school.  Also try calling preschool programs listed in your phone book, your local child-care information agency, and churches.  Ask if there is subsidized preschool available, if there is state-funded pre-K, and how to contact Head Start in your area.
