Yes there is, to stop sweat from dripping down into your eyes - the sweat, or water will not go in your eyes becasue of your eyebrows!

Well, every part of our body has a purpose, or has had a purpose in the past. For example, back when we were hunting for our food and didn't have grocery stores, etc. we needed eyebrows to protect our eyes from the sun and dirt. The only thing that has changed (evolved) since then is that our foreheads are not sticking out (think cavemen with eyebrow ridges) because we don't need it anymore. This is similar for wisdom teeth. We don't need them (we get them pulled) but we used to need them to chew meat after hunting (and I'm talking generations and generations ago).

The typical curved shape of the eyebrow (with a slant on the side) and the direction in which eyebrow hairs are pointed, make sure that moisture has a tendency to flow sideways of the eyes, along the side of the head and along the nose. Eyebrows also prevent debris such as dandruff and other small objects from falling into the eyes, as well as providing a more sensitive sense for detecting objects being near the eye, like small insects.

Eyebrows also have an important facilitary function in communication, strengthening expressions like amazement or anger."
