  1. It kind of depends upon when he was discharged.

If it was recently, you can contact the personnel office for your husband's service.

If it was a year or so ago, either the VA or the archive site.

  2. I had to submit a SF180 form, its a request form for discharge papers.Just google that form and print it up.You have to mail it in and in a week or two they will send you your DD214.

  3. When I wanted to get a copy of my DD214, for personal reasons, I talked to a recruiter. He faxed the request in, stating that I was talking about re-enlisting. I had it two days later. And to cover the potential for fraud, he DID ask me if I was interested in going back in. I said not really, and he said fine.

That's just one way around the red tape.

  4. My Record Portal

The Human Resources Command My Record Portal

    https://www.hrc.army.mil/portal/

    National Archives

The National Archives Request for Personnel Records Page

  5. Not for sure but I believe you have to call the records dept in Virginia. The local VA would be able to direct all of that for yall though and maybe even process the paperwork for you. It does take a while to get a real copy of your DD-214 though.
