Is there a "best" size for snow wheels for 2005 Toyota Matrix?

Seems that OEM 15" wheels are cheaper. I have 17 inch alloys and have been told 15" wheels will affect the steering and handling a bit but can you get a tire for a 15" steel wheel that makes it as big as the 17s?

  1. The only effect the wheel/tire size will have on steering and handling is 15" wheels will allow for more tire sidewall, which will make the car ride smoother. and yes, you can get whatever size tire you need for whatever size wheel you want to buy for your car. 15" is more common than 17" anyways.

  2. put the 15" steel wheels with P185 65 R15 snow tires on it.  There will be no appreciable difference in steering capabilities of your car.
