  1. No. A rainbow normally only comes out after a really bad rain shower. It's God's way of saying there will never be another great flood.

  2. You need the sun to b out to have a rainbow.. the sun rays allow for all the colors to appear when it goes through the water drops

  3. only when the sun comes out!

  4. a rainbow only appears when the sun comes out and it's still raining.

  5. no, a rainbow forms when the sun hits the raindrops at a certain angle. Therefore a rainbow does not occur everytime it rains.

  6. You will only see a rainbow if it is about 45 min. before the sunsets and it rained, stopped, now the sun reappears.

  7. It has to do with your position relative to the sun and the sun shining through the atmosphere.

  8. if you belif in the bible then yes b/c  God promised never to flood the earth again and he shows this by the rainbow which is supposted to appear every time it rains as a sign of this promise but probaly not

...wow i no more about the bible than i thot.....creeeeeepy

  9. You won't see a rainbow when it rains unless the sun is out.  When you see the sun come out and it's still raining, look for a rainbow.  I saw one this evening when it was raining.  The sun came out, but it was still raining, but not hard.

  10. It really depends on the sun and way the mist/ rain is.

The rain makes a prism effect, by bending (refracting) the light as it passes from air to water and back again, and this splits the white light from sun into the different colors. A rainbow is actually a full circle, since the light from the sun comes from a globe and is evenly distributed, but we can only see part (the arch). So you could never actually reach the end of a rainbow, since there isnt one- unless you have a leprechaun of course...

So if there isn't enough sunlight (which happens alot from rain clouds), the rainbow will be very dim, or just not visible. The rain conditions must be right too to refract the light.

    Cheers

  11. It occurs mainly in regions where heavy, short bouts of rain occur, along with t-storms.  In these regions, "scattered showers" and prevalent and that's when one part of the sky can be sunny and one part is dark and rainy.

Here in the Pacific Northwest however, rain mainly occurs if the sky is completely overcast, so there are very few rainbows up here.
