If the answer to my last question is becasue Darfur is poor and the west is racist then there is no need for a United Nations, let it be rename the Western Nations. It is quite un becoming to let many souls perish in the hands of some few brutal militia in such a short time and cruelty while all sit back and watch.

  1. I dont think so. UN is nothing but the voice of USA,UK, FRANCE, RUSSIA and CHINA. Its not really the voice of the all the nations in the world. These nations are the one controlling these org. And so they speak only according to their own personal interest. UN is nothing but a name and it dos not live to is name.

  2. It's sad isn't it....

It made me wanting to be a Journalist....(but I am a science guy)

It's all up to the MEDIA to report those conflicts.

Media is a very powerful thing....the more people know....the more they will turn to their government and ask "WHY ARE YOU NOT DOING ANYTHING?"

Maybe it's time for the people of Darfur protest in front of U.N. for an answer.   I am sure more will join.  I would...

  3. Since the United Nations is made up predominately of anti western delegates, I think you have this a wee bit confused.  So are you saying you want us to come and kill all the Muslim terrorist in Darfur?  How are they any different than the ones we are currently fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.  What are YOU doing to help the people of Darfur?  That's the bigger question here.

  4. Of course there is a United Nations but it is completely ineffective. So if it can do anything, who else is there? Are the "Western" nations suppose to be the policeman of the world?

  5. No. There's just too much red tape, especially with any vote having to be passed by at least 9 of the 15 members of the UN Security Council. That may sound little, but if any of the Permanent Members of the Security Council (USA, UK, France, China, Russia) decide to go against it (outright dismissal, and not abstention), the motion will NOT be passed.

With the US and China+Russia constantly at loggerheads in the UNSC, it's not hard to see why sometimes it's hard to get things through.

  6. The current inactivity in Darfur is down to commercial interest by China.  The other P5 countries will not go up against China in public - and all evidence points to the fact there is a reluctance to go up against China in private.

The UN is only the sum of  its member states.  If its racist - all of us are racist.  When is the last time anyone reading this has asked their representation in Government what is the policy of your government in regard to Darfur and in particular in regard to the impact of China in relation to UN deployment.  When is the last time any of us asked why the commander of the - yet to be deployed force - will sit in Brussels instead of being in Darfur, Sudan or Chad?  The irony in all this is the soldiers are sitting it out - I guess because its too dangerous for their governments to send them - but the UN Civilians are already in place.

  7. The United Nation is too worry about limiting the US power and influence in the world because country such as France, China, Russia Germany and etc. are jealous and they are not focusing on real issues as suggest by you.

  8. What do you want the UN to do in Darfur?  The African Union has jurisdiction.....

The UN doesn't have its own army.  It's not meant to fight wars....

Plus why is intervening in Darfur in the UN or NATO's best interests?  What do we benefit from sacrificing millions if not billions of dollars to intervene?  Would you give your child's life to protect Darfur?

  9. Actually, the United Nations have tried multiple times to easy the fighting in Darfur.  It's just that the UN doesn't like to see any one killed especially European soldiers.  With the United States occupied in other areas the UN doesn't have the people that it usually calls on to enforce peace.

  10. There is no real United Nations because it is only beneficial to the superpowers that controls the affairs of other countries through the Security Council as permanent members.

  11. yes there is...much change is needed

  12. Darfur aside, no there is no real United Nations.  The only way that will happen is to abolish the "security council" and make the 5 standing members fully equal to all others and not first among equals.

That would be tantamount to declaring democracy.  And $50 is my bet that the US would be the first (loudest) nation to stand opposed to such democracy.

  13. The current United Nations gets little done because of the differences of opinion between the eastern powers (Russia and China) and the western democracies.

One reason why I support McCain for the presidency of the United States is because he plans to create an international organization consisting of only like-minded democracies so things actually get done.
