I guess I should say gossiping or complaining. I'm not lumping the two together.

  1. Yes because some people gossip and complain without reason.

  2. "Venting" means to talk to a certain person, being family or close friend.  They will listen and offer an "ear" or a "shoulder" with understanding and compassion.  Whether or not the "listener" agrees.

    Gossiping is nothing more than common pissing and moaning, whining and complaining and bitching about anything to whomever will listen.  The "talker" wants the "listener" to agree with his/her gripes, and as is naturally the case, vice versa.  It's all about communicating a common issue with  a positive outcome.

  3. I think so.

    When venting, you get it off your chest, get over it and move on.

    Constantly complaining just leads to a bad attitude and doesn't improve anything.

    I think you are lumping gossiping and complaining together, but I think gossiping is pretty different as well.  Its not necessarily negative, but it definitely can be harmful.  I see it as discussing other people's lives; things that aren't any of your business.  I also see it as a waste of time and potentially harmful to either your or your subjects reputations.

  4. yeah i think so. if someone is gossiping, then they are talking to a lot of people about it, but venting frustrations is done to a select few

  5. Yup

  6. gossiping is different because you are talking 'about' someone for no other reason than to tell their story to someone else.

    complaining and venting generally have self-preserving motives.

  7. Depends who you are talking to... for instance, I have my wife tell me things because I want to know what she is feeling.  However, I advise her not to say those things to other people... even if we agree with what she is feeling.  Gossiping and complaining is are bad traits you want to have.

  8. Frustrations= Rage

    Gossiping=Wasting time

    Complaining=Baby

  9. Haha no, it's just a phrase adults use to try and make themselves feel better for gossiping/complaining like teenagers.

  10. Venting is when you just ramble on about your problems (sometimes shouting), gossiping is when you talk about a person, and complaining is when you point out the bad things.
