  1. If you don't mind roughing it and want a really neat experience, try a windjammer schooner cruise (I'm not talking about the big pseudo-windjammers in the Caribbean). Check out the Maine Windjammers -- it's like a camping trip on a boat and it's so reasonable you can take a 4-day cruise for around $600 per person.

  2. Tinkertoy is good! Even answered one of my questions. You can always get last minute deals. Of course Christmas week is the most expesive. If you go to cruise critc.com, you can get customer reviews of each ship, and the shore excursions they offer. If you are not planning to sail within the US, then, unless you already have a passport, you might as well wait to book your cruise. If you go and return by the end of the year, then all you need is a birth certificate and photo id. After December 31st you will need a passport to return to the US, and the wait to aquire a passport is several months.

  3. get a travel agent they might be able to help you or go to like cheapcruises.com hope this helps you.

  4. Yes there is a really cheap cruise that you can go on with your family; AND yes I could find it or some options for you if you had told us in your question:

    1) when you want to go; Next 60 days, next 6 months, next year sometime., summer months only??

    2)  how many people in your family will be going; # of children and # of adults?

    3) how much money do you want to spend, or have to spend, or expect to spend; what do you consider "cheap"?

    4) WHERE would you like to cruise to, Caribbean, Mexico, Europe, Alaska, Panama Canal, Bahamas, other places?

    5) Do you have a preference of a cruise line, like Carnival, Disney, Royal Caribbean??

    6) What cruise port/city do you prefer to depart from; East coast cities like Miami, Ft Lauderdale, NY City, Tampa, or West coast like San Diego, Long Beach, Seattle??

    7) Do you want the cost or air travel included?

    8) Do all of the people traveling in your family have passports?

    9)  How many days do you want the cruise to be, 3, 5, 7, 12, 14, 15?  the total of any cruise price is going to be based on about $125 to $150 per day per person.  So, for example a 7 day cruise may be about $800 per person.

    10)  What type cabin do you want; inside, outside, balcony, suite??  Insides are the least expensive, suites are the most expensive.

Now all of these are questions which pretty much any travel agent is going to ask you before starting to look for a cruise for you.  There are probably a few others that I have not listed.  So it would be a good idea for you to think about these questions and then do some research for yourself on the cruise line web sites, OR go to a travel agent (try your local AAA or American Express office, or just look in the yellow pages or on the internet) with the answers to these questions and sit and discuss what you want.  The travel agent will not charge a fee to find a cruise for you; he/she gets paid by the cruise line when you book.

Now take a look at the sites below to get started.

  5. You're gonna have to supply a LOT more information than that!

  6. Here is what I do to get a good fare on cruise travel. I have been on 14 cruises and I always save money.

    1. Be flexible. Always book well in advance.

    2. Start at CruiseValue.com and search for fares and jot down two or three cruises that you are interested in.

    3. With this information go to CruiseCompete.com and fill out their form for your desired cruises. If you are not yet registered with Cruise Compete you can register for free.

    4. Within minutes you will recieve competitive quotes sent to you by email from a wide range of cruise travel companies and cruise wholesalers.

    5. Contact the company with the lowest fare and ask them if there is a charge for cancelling later and if they say no then I proceed to 'book' the cruise with them.
