Is there a reason that bee hives are build with box joints instead of dovetail joints??

  1. For box type bee hive...box joints (and finger joints) make for a strong simple joint, with some flexibility.  A bee hive box could be made with rabbited butt joints, mitered ends or dovetails.


  2. Because they are a little stronger and the frames are rather large with no internal support.

  3. Box joints have more surface for glue so they are a stronger joint. Dovetail joints are assumed by many to be superior but a box joint with small fingers beats it for strength.
