I tried looking it up but couldn't really find an answer.

Is there any certain medicinal benefit we were hoping to gain? Perhaps a cure for insomnia or boredom? Or was it just some random choice?

  1. I dont no what to tell yah ... i know they do it with chickens and i know that sheep are easy to clone..

  2. Interesting.  I tried looking it up too, and couldn't find a direct answer either.

Speculation:  It's probably a choice made by FUNDING.  The Roslin Institute performs research on farm animals -- so I'd say that's why they cloned a sheep.  If the breakthrough had occurred at a university or similar academia, then we'd be reading about a cloned African clawed frog or mouse, instead of a sheep.

  3. I believe it is because they have nothing better to do, such as trying to find a cure for cancer or one of the other hundreds of diseases out there, or maybe it is because they have to use up the funding they received and do not want to lose next years funding if they do not, so they spend their time and efforts doing something that is of no use to mankind, I mean as far as I know there is no shortage of sheep.

  4. its just a random choice

  5. sheep breed fast, have basic animal DNA, are well understood by scientists, are timid and used to human interaction by nature and are relatively easy to transport and dont attack when handled. this and the fact that sheep cannot sue or claim to have more rights than another sheep

  6. The reason why Scientists chose to clone sheep is that they find out that any thing that sheep will eat and die can also kill human being.  Their aim is to find a way to clone human  being since sheep has similar status with human.
