  1. Yes, any one that has a digital connection will provide lossless audio beyond what you are able to hear. All good quality receivers and preamps will use very high quality digital to analog converters that will esentially provide lossless audio.

    Losses in audio come from poor compression. Losses in audio come during the recording phase. They will also come from poor D/A (digital to analog)converters and poor codecs(COder/DECoderS).

    If you send something out on your PS3 to a good quality receiver through the digital connection you arent going to lose anything you can hear.


  2. Im not sure what that other guy was trying to say, but yes there are recievers that can decode DolbyTrueHD and DTS MasterHD audio formats. Most are manufactured by Denon and Onkyo.

  3. The loseless audio would have little to do with the reciever as long as the reciever had an optical input.  As long as that is the case, any receiver can be paired with a PS3 to do what you are asking.
