Question:

Is there a recommended product to give unfinished floors a little luster or slight shine w/o damaging?

They say Murphy's Oil Soap isn't good for unsealed, unfinished floors. I don't want to use wax on an unfinished floor either. When I moved in 3 months ago, the floors were new and obviously unfinished (I wish they had been sealed or polyurethaned) but they had a good grain and a healthy look. Now they look dull and I want to restore some life to them that will last. Any suggestions?

  1. they have floor finishes that have a light satin finish also if u have it done by a contractor have them put bona naturale finish on it makes the wood look more natural look as if it was unfinished but with a light luster level but if u want to do it yourself rent a buffer and screen and buff them to restore the look as if they were when u first got them installed

  2. My first suggestion was going to be Murphy's oil soap. But I see you have already looked into that option. It is difficult to bring unfinished hard wood back to its original luster if it hasn't been properly protected, short of sanding it down and then sealing it properly.

The only other suggestion I can give you is linseed oil. This product it widely used by boaters to bring back the finish in their teak trim on their boats. I have the the before and after results of using this product and it is amazing.
