  1. OCD is a form of an anxiety disorder.

I guess you could say that because of the anxiety and failure to do the compulsive things in order to relieve the anxiety could lead to depression.

I have severe anxiety and OCD. I don't feel depressed at all. But if you were to talk to me, it would probably seem that way. I can't seem to enjoy anything. I need to stick to my routine of daily living or else I have a panic attack. I hate doing things I use to enjoy doing simply because they make me anxious now. Odd, I know.

Also. Since OCD is an anxiety disorder,.. most anxiety disorders are treated with antidepressants. That could also be where you are getting your statistic of 90% from,... or it's like from your head. Hahha.

    Hope that helps. :)

  2. I have OCD.  I think that most ppl with OCD get depressed bc of the OCD.  It takes a toll on your life emotionally, physically, and of course mentally.  I do have bouts of depression but it's not to bad.  The OCD problem surrounds you fully all the time and it's always there, at least for me it is. Hope this helps

  3. It's to do with lack of seretonin.

  4. Prolonged stress of any kind, including OCD, usually lead to glandular performance deficiencies, which in turn affect neurochemistry, like serotonin availability deficiencies in the brain, which in turn cause chemical depression.

  5. well..for example..i have anxiety..i get so anxious i cant enjoy anything and gets me thinking so much and i feel held back..that i just get depressed,so i have anxiety+depression.

anyways,im sure ocd is the same. perhaps the ppl have their habits which really bother them so much, they just get really depressed over it and how they dont feel normal.

  6. They can't control their obsessions and then they try to fix it with compulsions. They can't control their compulsions so they get depressed. OCD usually is time consuming because they can't stop thinking about it. Imagining having to do a 100 page report in 2 days and you're little 2 year old niece or lil sister comes for both those 2 days and you have to baby sit. It's impossible,so you get upset and depressed. People diagnosed with OCD have to face the challenge every day of trying to stay concentrated on work and school work and other things. Wouldn't you be depressed too?
