Is there a relationship between air pollution and dust storms?

One thing is their appearance.  They both reduce visibility and reduce fog:

Another is that storms are likely to cause some air pollution, in the form of particulates (dust) picked up from the ground.  This can become inhalable and cause respiratory problems.
