Question:

Is there a relationship between mental health and male fertility?

I know that psychological issues such as stress and depression can affect a woman's menses and thus make it more difficult for her to conceive.

Does anyone know if similar psychological factors can affect a man's fertility? Is it possible that stress, depression, anxiety, etc. can cause a man to be infertile?

  1. Women's cycles are cued by hormone releases. Depression and stress make her body release plenty of hormones that can alter her cycle. As far as I know, men don't have hormone cycles; however, I'd say your theory is entirely possible, because in general, a human's psychology can have huge effects on his or her bodily function. You know how when you're sick or injured, you heal faster when you maintain a positive outlook?

If you're trying to conceive, I'd say that thinking good thoughts couldn't hurt your chances! Good luck. :)

  2. I don't know if it causes actual "infertility" but it can cause E.D. (erectile dysfunction) in which case the male cannot properly ejaculate. But if the man is drinking a lot or taking certain medications for the depression, those things can interfere in fertility.

  3. Yes... Mental health affect ur sperm quality...
