Is there a reliable, free sight to find ancestors???

i know my lineage 4 generations back on my mother's side, i know they came frim england sometime between 1675-1750. i need to find where from, when, and who. any good sites that will help me find any of these?

There are thousands of reliable and free sites for ancestry. The quality is not dependent on the site.. but your own skills in defining WHERE you are looking, and spotting a valid record when you see it.  

I am spotting something fishy right now.. if your ancestry on mom's side is in the late 1600s after only 4 generations.. something is VERY strange.  I have huge long generations on my mother's side- she was 40 when I was born, and her father close to 70 when she was born.  Meaning, he was born in 1838.  I am not calling you "wrong", but it catches my eye immediately.

When talking about immigrants from England between 1675-1750, you have a big challenge.  In that time frame, there are very few surviving records that are going to be explicit proof of someone's age.. THEN they have to be absolutely verified to 'match' a birth record in England, assuming that one actually exists.  

You are welcome to post your specific person/ question here, and someone may offer you a source.  I would not guarantee that it will be online, unless they have already been documented by someone else.

no unfortunately there is not.  Alot of money is spent mapping out peoples ancestry so any site that is any good WILL charge you a fee for using it.  

However, there is one that is free and claims to be good.  Here it is:   http://www.genealogy.org/

The BEST one I would say is:   www.FamilySearch.org

rootsweb is pretty good

you can also type your surname into yahoo groups. My surname has a group, all people trying to connect through genealogy and connections to one another.

there is ancestry.com which is reallu helpful, but its not free. so; no.
