Looking for a rugby team that acts like a weekend softball team. I still need to learn the sport though?

  1. The Old Aztecs seem to be your best bet from the details you've provided.

The club list for clubs in Southern California can be found here:

    You want Senior Men's Clubs

  2. There are four clubs for adult men in San Diego County.  In alphabetical order they are:

The Armada plays in Southern California Division 3, and have been in the cellar of that division for their first two years of existence.  This year they seem to be better (the season starts next week, so we'll know more soon).  They are the most casual of all the teams.  They are predominantly (though not exclusively) g*y.

In Encinitas is the North County Gurkhas.  They are a solid Division 2 club.  They take things more seriously than the Armada, but will be open to beginners.

A very similar club to the Gurkhas is the Old Aztecs, who are actually in San Diego.

The biggest and most well known club is OMBAC.  They are one of the top teams in the Super League, which is a nationwide competition of 18 elite teams.  They are also a strong team in Southern California's Division 1.  They also enter a team in the Division 2 competition, though they are less successful at this level.

  3. look on google or yahoo put in your where you live and at the end rfc

  4. You can also try finding a club through USA Rugby. Go to their website and click on the Find a Club option on the left side of the menu. You can choose state and league options to find contacts. If still in doubt, I'd suggest talking to one of the San Diego club coaches to make connections.

Rugby is growing rapidly. We're looking for volunteers, coaches, and referees to make it possible for more people to play!
