Against the law technically for XM and sirius signals to be listened to as the Mexican government hasn't authorized them...

In other words technically you're not supposed to listen south of the border but people do regularly and yes , due to the design of the antenna, it only covers the Continental US, Most of Canada, and the extreme southern half of Alaska if I remember.

So it will work in extreme northern area of Mexico as Duh said but not that far south

Only the northern border cities of Mexico. Both services. XM offers its website in Spanish if that helps, but the signal fades pretty fast south of the border.
