My children are 15 and 13. They are currently in a US school in Belgium. My daughter has spent 1 year in a Belgium high school but the french teaching wasn't very good, She picked up a lot from her friends but got stuck when it came to physics and geography. My son (13) speaks little french at the moment but is willing to learn.

  1. Most state schools in Burgundy give children an education.  All of them teach in French.  Burgundy is a large place, so the choice is yours.  I'd pick somewhere near Beaune.

  2. My children go to an International school here in the US. I have seen children from other countries come to our school, not speaking one word of English and do not have a foreign accent by the end of the school year.

Put them in a French school and they will be fine, plus they will have an IB (or FB) education.
