Is there a separate cable/cord i can buy so i can play online without plugging any cable in the modem?

it is for the xbox 360, someone told me there is a cable you can buy for the xbox 360 and you can plug it in somewhere on the 360

he also said that the cable doesn't have to be pluged in the modem

is he right

and if there is such thing how much is it and where can i buy it

its called an ethernet cable and all you have to do is buy a router box and plug your internet connection into the input and then hook a ethernet up from the router box  to your processor for internet on you computer and then you run one more ethernet cable from the router to your xbox 360 and you will be playing live in no time. and the guy that told you that is talking about a wireless connection. o you also can buy a ethernet cable on any electronic website or any store that sells computer hardware.
