  1. You could do worse than look at "Hordes of the Things", generally known as HOTT.

There is a yahoo group for fans of the game (see sources below).

It gives a good game and is cheap to buy. It uses the same basic system as the historical (medieval/ancient) rule set DBA, which is very popular.

  2. I would consider using some varient on the Lord Of the Rings rules. There is a Yahoo! Group that supports this kind of thing: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/LOTR...

The rules are VERY easy to use and remember, and have a great flavour for a skirmish level game. Have Fun!

  3. I would go take a look at No Quarter http://www.wargamesunlimited.com/ and Savage Worlds http://www.peginc.com/. SW is not just a wargame, but their are rules called Savage Showdown floating around that turn it into one. PegInc does not have it on their site at the moment as Showdown is being updated.

  4. I just use the figures as mock up units from any system you may like...

WarHammer  Fantasy should work fins for MK and D&D Figures. Just get the manuals (not sure how Games Workshop call them)...

Personally, at a non-competitive level, the MK 1 rules set is pretty fun to play. when you start to play competitively that you can see the games flaw (max/min puzzle to avoid waste points in abilities and stats that are not used by the army).
