  1. The 1st person stated where the shortages are (in what dept.) .... those people usually teach upper grades NOT elementary school. Elementary school teachers have to be knowlegable in all depts.

    You have a better shot at a job if you take a specialty and teach just 1 subject in the upper grades. General grade 1-5 teachers are pretty easy to come by. The only exception is in big cities that are problemed. No sane teacher wants to work there because you get treated like garbage and small towns pay WAY better


  2. there are some locations in the U.S. where every type of teacher is needed, but generally i'm going to say that elementary teachers are not as needed as middle and high school science and math teachers.  

    however, there is always a need for special education teachers and reading specialists at all levels.

  3. Yes, in the USA, science, math, bilingual teachers.
