Is there a simple, easy way to determine if glass has painted on color, before purchasing?

Have purchased glass bottles with painted on color, by mistake. When the glass gets washed in the dishwasher, the paint peels off. Noticed mostly in "Mexican Glass". I don't understand their reasoning for painting glass because the color peels off and a person is left with clear glass underneath.

Invest in some -real- glasses. They're hard to find, but you can get them at department stores usually.

Be sure to check if they're dishwasher safe too. You may have to handwash them.

I had the same problem. Still do, in fact. I bought a set of glasses for eight at Sears one day and it's been my "good set" ever since.
