Is there a simple portable device where I can speak and it will dsiplay what I said in text?

It's the same technology that GPS systems and phone systems have where you say something and recognizes voice. I need it to type the text I said. I've searched for a speech to text device but am having no luck. It needs to be portable so I can bring around anywhere. Something about PSP/GAMEBOY sized. I know there has to be something out there. This is for use with deaf people.

How would the deaf person be able to communicate something to you if you don't know sign?  Why not just hire an interpreter?
