  1. The short answer is no, at least not with certainty.

(However, regional guides to gardening are a good place to start...also try looking around at what other people are growing well near your home...might be a good idea to take notes each month or season as to what you see blooming/growing well during that time.)

The reason you shouldn't put you faith in an outside source telling you what will/will not grow is that there are too many variables that influence whether a plant will grow well. An example: Southern magnolias are perfectly hardy where I live, often growing to great heights. But plant them on the north, windy side of your property and you've got a dead tree...the winter winds dry 'em out. Another example: The plant care tag on azaleas says they can tolerate full sun, which is true. The problem is, predatory spiders that hide on the plants, preying on lace bugs/mite pests, only like cooler, semi-shade conditions. Which is why azaleas planted here by people who naively trust plant tags die within a few seasons unless they're moved.

This long-winded response hopefully gave you some help...even if that help was just to tell you that horticulture is not a "black/white," "yes/no" kind of science...it's more of an art...but with careful observation and experimentation you will succeed. Don't limit yourself by approaching it too conservatively.

  2. You may find more accurate information from a local nursery. Check your phone book (or www.411.com or related site) for a number to call with your questions.

If you really want to use the internet, you will probably have to dig around. I use the website, Dave's Garden, to look up plants I'm interested in.

  3. www.burpeeseeds.com   enjoy growing.

  4. http://www.usna.usda.gov/Hardzone/ushzma...

  5. Go to:

    http://www.google.com

And type in "what flowers/vegetables will grow in (your state goes here)?"

  6. google!

  7. This is the best website and has a ton of great advice, planting dates, and you can even contact them with specific questions about particular plants.

    Try this site.

It's hard to say since you didn't say where you live.
