it is free to join, there is a very detailed forum where you can ask & answer all sorts of relevant questions and/or place personal small ads to buy & sell things

www.fusac.fr is a magazine for anglophones in paris, its very good.

I agree with ceebgeeb, FUSAC (France USA Contacts) is a must. They have an alternate site (with essentially the same content), http://www.fusac.com/ as well. I would also definitely recommend the Paris Voice: http://parisvoice.com
