Is there a size/weight limit to goalies in the NHL? If not, teams could just stuff a sumo wrestler in the net.

  1. There is a size limit on equipment, and it's been tested. A Washington post reporter had a suit made exceeding the fattest person ever's dimensions, put a top Junior goalie in it, and took it to a capitals practice. It didn't cover all the net, and lots of goals were scored.

So no, it's been tested and would never work.

  2. I doubt it..

That would be awesome if we got like a 7 foot black guy and get him to 400 pounds and have him in a butterfly stance.

  3. If having a super f****s goalie was the most effecive way of keeping pucks out of your net then we wouldn't have people like Marty Turco or Chris Osgood.

  4. Yawn.  We've been here before - a lot.

    Net - 6 feet wide.

Perfect goal - half an inch from the post, or off the post and in.

Sumo wrestler - feet aren't 6 feet wide.

5 hole - even easier to score on a sumo who can't see the puck when it is in his crease.

  5. That's hilarious, and no the NHL has no restrictions. However the net is 6 x 4, i doubt they could find a person that is six feet wide, plus the NHL would get horrible press from that. Would be hilarious to see though...

  6. Not that someone could be the shape of a net, but the goalie jerseys are only allowed to go up to a certain size.

  7. this wouldnt work. Their legs wouldnt be able to move in the way of the puck, and they wouldnt be able to fill all parts of the net.

lol. He'd have to be an auflly fat sumo wrestler. Good luck finding one that wide. This person might work: http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/12...

  8. then they would shoot between his legs, ......thier is a pad size limit

  9. not true, a goalie needs to be in shape and be able to move, you could stuff a sumo wrestler in the net, and they would fall and bam open shelf. They wouldn't be able to pop back up on there feet to recover shots and so on. People have this theory but don't really think it out, first of all there is no person that will totally cover all of the net cuz they would have to be like 6` ft tall and 4 feet wide, so if you find that human let me know. You would be able to shoot around this said sumo wrestler and they wouldn't be able to move fast enough to make a save.

  10. A sumo wrestler in the net lol!!!!!!!!!!!!! Olly if he can wear that diaper they wear.

  11. oh my god, if i have to see this question one more time..

you realise it's impossible to find someone the exact shape of a net?

how many square sumo wrestlers do you see?

    exactly.

no matter what you will find a hole.

  12. 6x4 human

email me if u ever see one

  13. Not to sound harsh but that is a bad idea because:

-the goaltender's position is an especially physically demanding one (thats why all coaches and players say its the hardest job in hockey)

-a big fat guy would block a lot of the upper and middle part of the net but the bottom would be just as wide open since his feet are in skates on two thin little blades like everyone else.

-if you throw a big fat guy off balance, it takes him A LOT longer to recover than someone in shape.  So it's easy to skate around him or make him slide out of position.

In conclusion, that puzzle would be easily solvable by NHL players and would probably not be effective for even two minutes.

  14. Ye!!...No... I don't feel like going on about why this cant happen.
