If you're going to training at a Muay Thai camp, they often sell equipment at the camps or I'm sure could tell you the best place to shop. There are also a large number of sporting good shops just past National Stadium off Rama I Rd. in the opposite direction of the MBK Mall, some shops there specialize in Muay Thai equipment. Otherwise, if you're just looking for souvenir type of shorts and gloves, you can buy those types of things at some of the shops on Sukhumvit, just above Soi 3. Someone at your hotel should also be able to tell you a good place to go for what you're looking for.

you can buy all the needed gear at many places in Bangkok - the Patpong night market has a few stalls that sell the pads, gloves, and shorts.  You can also find them at the Chatuchek weekend market too.   Just be careful not ot overpay - the list price is just an inflated figure for the tourists.  Haggle-haggle-haggle!

Special market? Not that I am aware of.  

The gear that you can buy at patpong and sukhumvit are not worth buying if you intend to use it for anything other than decoration.

There are kickboxing and muay Thai schools in bangkok.  These schools sell the same gear that the athletes use.  There are also a few shops that sell the gear as well, but not a thai boxing market per se.

If you tell me where in Bangkok you will be, I can tell you the best place to get it.  There might be one or two specialty shops in Phuket, but I recommend buying it in Bangkok.
