A fake doctor is a quack, from Dutch, quacksalver. Is there a name for a fake attorney, or any other profession for that matter.

PS I do not mean charlatan, which could cover anything.

  1. A paralegal?

  2. a barrister, literally meaning;

    "someone you have called to the bar".

    Now in the old days, magistrates would go from village to village to hear the complaints and judge them. There would be a bar (pole) which no one would be allowed to cross, protecting the magistrate from attack from dissatisfied folks, so if you call someone to the bar to represent you, it would usually be one of your neighbours, especially one who could lie well enough to influence the magistrate, because an accused was only allowed to speak and tell his side of the story at the very end of a court case, by which time the magistrate has already formed his own opinion, so calling a barrister would help swing the magistrate's opinion and that is where the word comes from....

  3. Don't stir here too today MJ !

  4. Jaws? Like the pro name for the Shark (referring to lawyers) just kidding!

  5. Lawyer - Magiane (Township lingo)
