Our basement just flooded. There isn't much water damage, it just got right along the walls, and maybe a foot into the middle. We used a shop vac last night, have three fans, windows open and a huge blower on the carpet and left it overnight. Is it safe for me to move my furniture back to where it was, even if it is a little moist? Is there a special product I can use that will help eliminate the odor, and wetness? Or should I just wait for three more days like my husband wants to?

  1. If the carpet is on pad, you have to pull the carpet back & cut the pad out & replace it. While the pads out run fans to completely dry it. The pad will act as a sponge.

I would get it professionally cleaned also

  2. I would wait or else the water will definitely seep into the wooden furniture. Also you can re-vacuum the water out of the carpet. Also use a baking soda carpet powder to remove any odors. Best of luck!
