Is there a special technique to curling hair?

My hair never stays curled when I do it...but when a stylist curls my hair it stays practically all day....what is the technique?

spray your hair with a thermal spray NOT hairspray

curl each piece (1inch section) spiral ways

then piece it out

Stylists usually use a good product to start with.  I love Upload by Schwarzkopf.  They also use a very, very hot professional iron.  I don't have a professional iron so I use hotsticks to curl my hair and then use a product like a glossifier to separate my curls so they're not fuzzy.

This is how the hairstylists, I know do it...Take a piece(Section of hair), and put the straightner at the root, Then slid it down a little ways, Then roll it half way, and slid it down a little more, Roll it half way, and slid it down a little..Keep doing that intill you run out of hair...Spray the hair with some super hold hairspray(Get got2be, It works really good.), then let the Curler go loose, You may have to open the curler up to get it loosen..But when it get's loose, Pull the curler out. and spray it with hairspray again.

spray it with hair spray when it is in the curling iron.  It always works for me like that.

plus stylists have years of training to be able to do hair.
