Question:

Is there a specific UK Road Safety Organisation?

I am searching for an organisation that campaigns for road safety from every angle. ie Pedestrian. cyclist, , horse rider, those living beside roads, even local authorities etc..

There seems to be a need for a concerted effort to get road safety looked at from the point of ''original'' users, those without the steel boxes around them and the engines propelling them.

Perhaps we just need a wholistic look at this subject.

  1. I would say the main one and the one most advertised is 'Think!'

  2. DOT

  3. The best current organisation is Brake, a road safety charity.

    They say:

    "Brake is a national road safety charity (registration number 1093244) with two aims:

        * To prevent death and injury on the roads through education of all road users and campaigning for improvements to road safety;

        * To care for people who are bereaved or affected by serious injury in a road crash through support services".

    Also, RoSPA has a driver training arm (RoADA - RoSPA Advanced Driving Association) which provides training for drivers to improve their skills.  RoSPA itself has a road safety division which campaigns generally for road safety.

  4. RoSPA?

  5. The Answer to your question is 'no'.There are umpteen organisations involved already in the various aspects of road safety. I think you will find that pedestrians,cyclists.horse-riders and people who commute by pogo-stick and roller skate are all represented somewhere in the matrix.

  6. The Tufty Club??? I know, i know, it doesn't answer your question but made me think of The Tufty Club and took me on a trip down memory lane so thanks.....
