  1. It depends on the conditions that you're going to be snowboarding in. Goggles are generally pretty much the same size and the straps are adjustable. There are some small differences though. Some goggles might have a slightly wider field of vision, but it doesn't make that much of a difference. Different colored lenses block out different kinds of light. There are lenses for hazy conditions, sunny conditions, and night conditions.

  2. I'm no expert but think of the jobs they have to do. They have to stop you getting snow-blindness, protect your eyes from the wind blasting and snow at speed and from impacts when you fall.

Don't skimp - get ones that follow the correct safety standards.

  3. If there's a sports rental shop at the mountain or where you live you should be able to rent a pair quite inexpensively.  Ski goggles are fairly specific and if you're not going to be using them over and over it's a bit investment for not much use.

You should look for some with "double lenses."  This is a design that helps prevent fogging up and keeps the air near your face a bit warmer.  They'll have vents so that air can circulate but without drying out your eyes of freezing them.  They don't have sizes, so to speak, but there are some goggles that are larger than others (especially kids vs adult) so make sure to try them on in the store and see that they fit you alright (not too tight, not poking you in the eye, the foam makes a nice seal on your face).

I just spent $80 on a pair of Spy Targas.
