I hope someone out there can clear this up for me. I recieved a letter from the IRS stating that I would recieve a stimulus check...even my tax man confirmed that I would...but I have not! I was among the peolple that was suppose to recieve their paper check by mail by June 13th. I wonder if I'm a dependent to my parents would that effect my receiving of the check or not...I'm really curious and concerned...any info?

  1. Hi there, unfortunately if someone claims you as a dependant you will not get one as far as i know.

  2. I got mine, eventually; 1 month after I got the letter. If your parents claim you on their taxes they get the check. If you work and filed your own taxes, you get the check.

    hope this helps

  3. Unfortunately, the Stimulus check is meant to bolster the economy and the government assumes that if you are dependent on somebody you will not buy essentials like food, gas, and clothing. Although that stinks, it is what it is. Oh, and the IRS and tax pros are extremely disorganized and disoriented so what they tell you isn't always true.

  4. If you are claimed as a dependant on your parents taxes, you may not get a check.

  5. Visit IRS website for how to qualify for the stimulus, if you are claimed as a dependent you don't qualify.

    www.irs.gov

    use the stimulus calculator.

  6. If you are a dependent, you aren't eligible. Period. If you are talking about the letter you got in March, read it again.... it says you may be eligible, not that you are.

What "tax man" confirmed that you would?  I think you need a new tax man, one who know what they are talking about

  7. If you are a dependent, you do not qualify for a stimulus check.
