  1. Hi there,

Here are some ideas that may help. I looked through the Hot Topic website and a lot of their clothes are really similar to items at these places. These are all chains that have locations all over Canada.

    1. H&M: This is a large chain from Britain, and they've got everything - from classy career casual, to very alternative funky striped shirt-dresses and hoodies. If you like to find unusual, edgy clothes, they've always got the latest stuff here. They have, by far, the most similar stuff to what I saw on the Hot Topic site - everything from punk to pretty. Several locations in Canada. Definitely your best bet. http://www.hm.com/

    2. Urban Outfitters: I know this is in the US as well, but it's always a good pick for pretty & unique t-shirts and other alternative gear. Similar style to Hot Topic's "fitted tees". http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/

    3. Bluenotes: It switches back and forth between preppy and skate punk. It's doing the edgy graphic tee thing, but what you may like are its baggy bottoms - it usually has some some ungirly fits to suit the punk inside you, as well as Dickies pants. Similar style to Hot Topic's shorts for girls. http://www.blnts.com/

    4. West 49: This is definitely a skater-punk store, so if that's your thing (check out their site first) you should head in its direction. http://www.west49.ca/index.jsp

If you're in Toronto, the search is a lot easier: (although check out H&M anyway) - you'll want to hit up Queen Street West. The stores you'll definitely want to see (check out their sites!) will be:

    + Bang-On http://www.bang-on.ca/

+ Black Market Vintage Clothing http://www.blackmarkettoronto.com/home/h...

+ Fresh Baked Goods & The Fresh Collective http://www.freshbakedgoods.com/index.php

    + Preloved http://www.preloved.ca/english/gallery.h...

+ Neon Clothing (they don't have an official website, but this is where to go to find lots of cute clothes, including Emily The Strange stuff) http://toronto.fashion-monitor.com/bouti...

Also, if you take the streetcar on Queen up to Bathurst, there's a whole bunch more cute indie stores with cool fashions.

    Good luck & happy shopping!
