is this legal - how do i get it activated i'm new to all this - am on a pension - all i can afford!

Almost any block you can get a cell phone these days. If your on a pension then I'd reconsider getting a cell phone every one calls and you can't answer they get mad . Don't get one,I've been diconnected from one because I who a bit of money and I'm happy Yaa no more cell phone what a favour they did me.

You should consider Virgin Mobile - they are the cheapest pay-as-you-go company out there, and the service is pretty decent.  As for used phones, there's not much of a price difference, and most of the phones are offered for $0 if you sign w/a plan, so you best just buy one new w/Virgin, which is about $40.
