  1. You go to the counselling office, the office of foreign studies, or foreign languages.  Some schools have a special office JUST for foreign Exchange.  They will have all the details.  Where they have exchanges, how to apply, what is expected of you, what to expect of the program...

  2. Yes, most colleges offer study abroad programs, and Japan is a popular choice.  Check with your college's "study abroad" office, they will have all the information you need.

Basically you just pick a school from their list, and sign up for certain classes through your school.  You will get course credit towards your diploma here.  The classes may or may not be in English or be related to your major, so you'll have to check with your school.

  3. You should check with your college to see if they have a program but you dont have to go through your school.  I didnt i went through a program called API, they and i worked with my school so that i could go to ireland since my school at the time didnt offer that as a choice.  you will most likely have to pay more than if you went through a program at your school but you can go through a program and go where you want no matter what your major and they will work wiht your school.  Also you can still use your financial aid to help pay for the program.  good luck

  4. Study abroad programs vary from school to school and depend on your major also.  Not every school has the same programs.  My college has a program to China but it is for History students over the summer.  Then there is one to England but for business student and a hole semester. The list goes on and on.  YOu need to check at your university and see what is offered
