  1. only design or build.. or maybe review..

  2. Then either design one or build one. I've only ever heard of them testing a coaster.

  3. i dont know. But if there were i would soooo want to do it.

  4. Yes, you take the hot coffee mug and place it on the coaster, if it breaks, leaks, leaves a spot on the coffee table, it fails the test.  Thanks for asking!

  5. I doubt you could make a living writing strictly about rolllercoasters, unless you want to publish your own coaster magazine. Coaster testers are generally the mechanical engineers who built them.

  6. No.

The first people to do the tests are usually the engineers and managers.

  7. The American Coaster Enthusiats (ACE) have a magazine & website where regular people (mostly members) will review and criticize roller coasters.  A lot of these people are just regular people who ride but several are actually engineers and scientists that can talk about the relative forces, centrical movement, etc that make a coaster the screamer or sleeper it is.  With these people as contributors, why would anyone waste money having someone do this as a day job?

By the way, at Cedar Point, the people who work the rides test the rides along with the mainenance men who work on them.  Just one thing to remember.  If you go to Cedar Point to work on a ride, be willing and able to climb the ladder to the highest point on the ride without fear of heights issues, be able to walk the track without balance issues, & be willing to do this while trying to keep scared passengers that you just pulled out of the stuck car under control.  I worked there for 2 years & have never been back.  It was a horrible experience.  This was 15 years ago!

  8. probobaly theres one website that reviews coasters. you could work for that. Here is a link for a bunch of sites
