If my photos are always being showed by like The Weather Channel, Accuweather, Weather Bug, Intellicast, Wunderground, CoCoRaHS, and Skywarn...then, can I consider myself certified?

  1. Yes, such a term exists. People gain that title upon successfully completing storm chaser training. Anyone can be an amateur, but it takes training to become both certified and professional.

  2. There is no such thing as a certified storm chaser. Storm Chasing may be done by "professionals" most of the time but it is not a certified form. Storm Chasing is a form of Gonzo Journalism. You can become a certified Skywarn Storm Spotter but there is no specific training or certification to become a Storm Chaser.

  3. I was a certified storm watcher through the national weather service so I suppose it's possible.

I would not "consider" yourself one just because though.

I had to go through some training in Arizona.

    Try this page:http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/pqr/skywarn.php

You can punch in your city for training available if your interested

  4. Well, I think that to have any kind of certification it must be issued by a recognized authoritative organization.

The things that you do to get those pictures that all the weather related information sources use sounds absolutely fascinating and proves you have a real good running record in this field of photography.  I would think that your experience and the products of it ought to make you a certified person in the field.  However being certified may require some knowledge of some related fields or something like that.

Please have a look at "US National Meteorological Survey" web site (through the web search). There are many sites that you could look into.  It might even give you ideas for further work.  All the best.

Have you posted some viewable on the web and where?
