No, I don't think so.  It's very costly, but down the road someday you may come out ahead.

there is LOTS of grant money available for solar panles, batteries adn inverters, most funded thru the Dept of Energy or even the Department of Agriculture........just be prepared:

a typical one bedroom house that needs heating and cooling will cost 10,000 minimum to around 20,000 US$ to get off the grid
