  1. That depends on where you are looking.  Here in California, a lot of teachers were recently laid off, or told they would probably be laid off, due to budget cuts, so there is a surplus.  However, I heard on the radio today that places like Texas are advertising here to try to lure our surplus teachers over there, so I would guess they must have a shortage.

  2. Depends where you are. In PA there is a definite surplus. In the Southern states, there is a shortage. In inner cities, it is easier to find a job, but if you are looking to work at a rural school, or a suburban school in Western Pa, you are up against hundreds of applicates for each position.

Depends where you are, I guess.

  3. Nationally speaking there is a surplus of teachers, but a shortage of Good Teachers.

  4. That really depends on demographics.  Some areas are very short in certain types of teachers, but still won't hire for various reasons.  Other areas have more teachers available than there are jobs available.  The question cannot be explained carte blanche without narrowing down the state, county, district that you want to know about.

  5. In Florida there is a surplus because of budget cuts. The government really knows where to spend OUR money dont they

  6. In colorado, there is a shortage of Special Education teachers and speech pathologists
