Is there a telephone answering machine that will pick up BEFORE the phone audibly rings?

I have a dog with phone ring anxiety, and I'd like an answering machine that picks up at ZERO audible rings. All the models I've seen have a minimum of 2 audible rings. Does anyone know of a machine that will fulfill my needs?

You have a few options, actually.  My uniden phone will pick up with a message saying "this person isnt accepting calls, leave a message" with no rings.

Depending on what phone company you have, they may offer you voice mail.  You can have them set your voice mail to pick up immediatly.  Or you can request call forwarding, and have the number forwarded to somewhere else, like a cell phone.  There is also a feature some companies have called 'Do Not Disturb" (activate by hitting *78)  It will go directly to voice mail (if you have it) or it will say "this person is not accepting calls" (decativate by *79)

Anyway.  My Uniden phone does it, its fairly old.

it depends on your service provider

for eg with Bell canada you have 1 fl for business and 1lr for residential users and in these pacakages you have choose the calls forwarded to Voicemail or answering machine without even ringing on your phone.

Just turn "off" the ringer - most phones provide for this.

Then, set your answering machine to pick-up after whatever it's minimum rings allowed is.

I don't believe such technology exists because there would be so little demand for it.

The solution to your problem is to shut off the ringer.  If there is no switch to do that, open the phone and disconnect it.
