My family and friends are always asking me to write/make a cookbook.

My daughter is always calling me and asking me how to make one of my dishes, sometimes I feel I am making it over the phone for her, she'll call me 5 times for one dish.

  1. just follow the pattern that the famous cookbooks use.  betty crocker-companys coming etc.

  2. You can request a kit to start show you how to start a cookbook and get it copied. Good luck.

  3. There are a lot of book downloads that you can place on your computer for free. Here is one site: online-tech-tips.com. You can also go to fodd network.com to see if they have one there as well.

  4. Art Explosion Publisher Pro has book templates but for cook books my favorite is cookin". the new updated version allows you to put together and print a cook book very easily. theres a link below to check it out. the whole program is very easy to use for putting recipes into a cook book or to keep organized on your computer.

  5. Well, first of all, you have to have exact recipes, tried, tested and true. That would include sizes or weights of proteins, exact measurements of all ingredients, cooking times, equiptment/utensils needed and the proper cooking vessil (dish) to make this recipe in.  Next, would be pictures of the finished dish, pictures say a thousand words...........next would be to have a list of all your recources to assist the purchasers of your cook book to look up, just in case and to give credit to those who helped you along the way.  Organize your book for ease of use, listing salads, appetizers, sauces, soups, so on and so on at the start to invite interest for those who are specifically looking for one dish. Perhaps combining different combinations of such recipes in one section of your book may help those who need a whole meal plan.  Further information would include caloric intake, nutritional value, fat content, transfat and all that other stuff would be most appreciated in this market.  You could also offer additional information with substitutions in most recipes for those who are watching their sodium intake, lactose intolerant people, or please include a vegetarian or vegan section.  You're not going to please every walk of God's creations here, but if you try, it may reach a larger selection of purchasers.  One last thing, be who you are............and tell a little story of yourself.  If you are an Executive Chef, then say so, and if you are a wonderful Home Cook, say so proudly as well and just share what you love, that's all you can do, the rest is up to the consumer.  I hope these simple hints help you to start writing your soon to become famous "Homestyle Cookbook"!  Best of luck to you!
